Kelly Caylor receives ‘AI for Earth Innovation’ grant

As reported by Sonia Fernandez, for the UCSB Current, Kelly Caylor, a professor at UCSB's Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, has received an AI for Earth Innovation grant sponsored by National Geographic and Microsoft. The grant will support Caylor's investigation to the use satellite data, ground-based observations and other new technology to monitor environmental processes, aid in natural conservation, and to support efforts to better manage landscapes. Dr. Caylor's collaborators are  Matt McCabe from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, and Lyndon Estes from Clark University in Massachusetts. The team also will consist of UCSB researchers Ryan Avery, a doctoral student in Geography, and Marc Mayes, an Earth Research Institute scientist.
